An Accra Circuit Court has ordered the detention of Stephen Agordotse, a Ghanaian national, pending his extradition to Abuja, Nigeria, where he faces charges of theft.

Agordotse, who served as the Operations Manager at Discovery Logistics and E-Commerce Service in Lagos, is accused of stealing company property, including a KIA Cerato saloon car, two motorcycles, electronic devices, and cash amounting to 8,760,000 Naira.

His arrest followed an INTERPOL alert from Abuja, leading to his detention by the Accra Central Police Command. Prosecutors informed the court that all procedures for his extradition had been finalized and requested an expedited hearing.

The court denied Agordotse bail, citing concerns that he might evade trial if released. “Considering the ongoing extradition process, the accused may fail to appear before the court if granted bail. Accordingly, he is remanded into police custody,” the court ruled.

Agordotse, who has reportedly been in custody for a month, admitted to the crime in his official statement to investigators. The case has been adjourned to March 12 for further proceedings.
